About Brisbane Pride Choir

Brisbane Pride Choir is made up of members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies who come together to sing. Through our performances we share with audiences the value of a diverse and inclusive society and we often connect with people struggling with their own sexuality or identity. As a community choir, it’s a great feeling for us to know that our performances matter. We aim to entertain LGBTQIA+ audiences as well as our broader local communities.

We are a SATB (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) choir and sing a range of songs and musical styles, including traditional, contemporary, and original music. A large part of our repertoire is sung a cappella.

Our History

Brisbane Pride Choir started in 1998 as the Brisbane Lesbian and Gay Pride Choir. In the early days we were not an official choir, instead simply a group of people who came together for a series of singing workshops funded by a Brisbane City Council grant. The fire was lit with those workshops and just a few months later BPC performed at the annual Pride Fair Day.

In 2023 we celebrated 25 years of LGBTQIA+ choral singing with our involvement in the Out, Loud, and Proud Choral Festival and World Pride in Sydney, as well as a Gala Concert in Brisbane to finish up the year.
